The first day we entered Tangkoko's dry forest, the experience was uneventful, things were quiet during the half hour of walking. Ateng, our guide then went about searching and voila, this yellow beauty showed itself between the giant tree trunks in front of him. We scurried to photograph the first kingfisher for our trip, but really we did not have to hurry, it treated us with various poses for the next whole half an hour or so. After checking and making sure our Lilac pictures turn out perfect, we gave thumbs up and shook each others' hand. Well done Ateng! And our blood pressure went back to normal (you couldn't help holding a breath every time pressing the camera shutter in front of such a beautifully perched bird).
